5 Best British Boxers 2015
2015 has been a good year for British boxers. Starting off with the heavyweight division Tyson Fury got his wish to fight against Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight titles. We have also seen Anthony Joshua who continued his impressive winning streak by beating Gary Cornish in the 1st round to win the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title. Who can forget Amir Khan’s win against Chris Algieri by a unanimous decision, he is now the top man to face the Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao in his last fight before retiring. But the best British fighter to me is Kell Brooks, the current IBF Welterweight champion.

Anthony Joshua
The 25-year-old British boxer (13-0) won the Commonwealth heavyweight title after 1st round KO of Scotland’s Gary Cornish in London this year. The 6’6” boxer is now scheduled to fight another countryman Dillian Whyte for the British title later this year on December 12. Due to the recent lack of talent in the heavyweight division, Joshua is seen as the ‘savior’. The Olympic gold medalist has a 100{317a7769e272dec17b69bda26c6a5a4c5e6799efcd8a85f72cb552b76862c2b9} win record with all his previous fights lasting less than 3 rounds.
Kell Brook
Kell Brook is the current IBF welterweight champion who is scheduled to defend his title against Argentina’s Diego Chaves on October 24. For the British supremacy, many wanted to see him fight his fellow countryman Amir Khan. Kell Brook had already had two wins in 2015, against Frankie Gavin and Jo Jo Dan.
Tyson Fury
Tyson Fury deserves to be mentioned here because he earned his world heavyweight bout against the great Wladimir Klitschko for the WBA/IBF/WBO heavyweight championships. Although no one is expecting him to beat the Champ but still if the British boxer manages to cause an upset he will have an opportunity to become the Best British boxer of all times. The fight is scheduled on October 28 in Dusseldorf, Germany. Fury stopped Christian Hammer in just 6 rounds earlier this year.
Amir Khan
Amir Khan remains one of the biggest names in British boxing in 2015. He almost earned the title fight against the great Floyd Mayweather Jr. before the champion announced that his second-last fight would be against Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather won that fight through a unanimous decision. However, there is a great expectation that Amir Khan will now face the ‘Pac-Man’ next year. This year ‘King Khan’ won against Chris Algieri in a unanimous decision. Although Khan, the man from Bolton, was not at his best in the fight and had to face few difficulties against Algieri, the British fans are expecting big things from him in 2016. He could either face Kell Brook for British supremacy but his dream fight would be against Mayweather.
James DeGale
Last on the top 5 list of best British boxers of 2015 is James DeGale. DeGale won the vacant IBF super-middleweight title after beating Andre Dirrell in May and now he will defend his title against Lucian Bute in November. So far, DeGale has only lost once in his 22 professional fights. There is a big future ahead for the 29-year-old boxer from London.
It is due to rise of British boxers, we are now seeing young breed of boxers from Britain wearing boxing gloves in gyms and clubs. In order to train well, boxers need quality boxing equipment in gyms to reach the highest levels, similar to what their idols have achieved.
