Undefeated WBA Super Bantamweight Champ Scott Quigg (31 – 0 -2) looks to finally dismantle (also undefeated) IBF Super Bantamweight Camp, ‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton (21 – 0) in his hometown to unify both Bantamweight titles under one name! The friction between the two is going off the Richter scale. Experts say they haven’t seen such buzz and hype over a fight since the likes of David Haye vs Enzo Maccarinelli or Chris Eubank vs Nigel Benn!
The excitement has reached boiling point and both undefeated champions look to TAKE the other’s belt, making this one of the hottest boxing tickets in 20 years – and if you’ve seen the pre-fight press-conference, you KNOW that these two are ready to throw down.
The build-up to the fight was steady but tensions slowly intensified between the champions as fight night draws closer. This resulted in a pre-fight scuffle between the two camps over who gets the ‘home dressing room’. By the end of the row, the two wanted nothing more than to put their hands on one another. So much so that Frampton warranted a shove from Quigg after patting the Englishman on the shoulder being intimidating and over-familiar. The Irish-man reacted to the shove by angrily grabbing Quigg by the shirt until they had to be pulled away.

That should give you an idea of this possible fight of the year that took years in the making – expect nothing short of an all-out war.
As Quigg mentions in the past, it’s not about the title, it’s about each other’s ‘Championships’.
Heck, it’s about more than that. It’s about legacy, bragging rights, and cracking the armour, to prove neither is invincible and that all men must taste defeat at least once in their lives. The only question is, who is dealt their first loss?
“I’ve wanted this fight for so long, it is a fight which I’ve thought about over and over again, and really, it’s not about the belts or the titles any more. It’s about beating Frampton and moving on to dominate the division,” Quigg explained. “For me, there could be no titles on the line because it has been built up into such a rivalry between us, it is a pivotal moment in both of our careers. It’s about bragging rights, not about the world titles, and I’m not prepared to lose to him,” said Quigg on Frampton.
On the other hand Quigg feels he has something to prove:
“It has been a long time coming. I have been after this fight for four and a half, maybe five years. To be here and only a couple of days away – I’m like a kid at Christmas.
I’ve wanted this fight for a long time. I want to prove I am the best super-bantamweight in the UK and the only way I can do that is by beating Scott Quigg.
There are still some doubters but this is going to be the fight where people sit up and say ‘Wow, Frampton can fight’ and those doubters will start following me, I promise”.
As the tension escalates, all we know is that the fire and aggression will translate into only one thing – a barn burner of a fight that will leave one undefeated champion’s record and legacy tainted. But most importantly, who will get to hang both IBF and WBA Bantamweight titles on their walls. The aggressive power striker Scott Quigg? (favoured as underdog), or the slick precision puncher (AND betting favourite) Carl Frampton?
