As news of UFC’s flyweight division coming to an end are rife, Conor McGregor shares his unique perspective on the recent development.

There have been aplenty speculations recently that UFC’s flyweight division was coming to a close after operating for a period of six years. Many viewed recent departure of Flyweight’s former champion Demetrious Johnson to ONE Championship and the constant pressure on Henry Cejudo to notch up his division to face off T.J Dillashaw, as the last nail in the coffin.

As of now, Jose Torres and Jarred Brooks have parted ways from the promotion. According to a FloCombat, flyweight artists who are not willing to move up a division would simply be cut from the promotion.

Former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor has passed the blame bucket to ONE Championship’s CEO Chatri Sityodtong. According to the Irishman, Chatri’s ‘greed’ made him pull Demetrious Johnson from UFC’s flyweight division and now he has his eyes set on all artists who would be released once the category comes to a close. McGregor expressed his views on Twitter.

Nearly a year ago, Johnson said that UFC’s flyweight demise was quite near, as Dana White was threatening to do so. Passing on the blame to ONE Championship for the closure cannot be justified and McGregor’s allegations hold’s little ground.

While ONE Championship may seem like a good suitor, all the soon-to-be-cut artists can also consider RIZIN and Combat Americas as alternatives.
