Boxing’s living legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants to close the year with a master stroke as Money plans to embrace victory in his première bout against young Kickboxing prodigy Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year’s Eve. The fight will take place at Saitama Super Arena in the vicinity of Tokyo. The two would be locking horns on MMA’s octagon as part of RIZIN 14, a Japanese mixed martial arts organization.

Mayweather has been the most profitable star in boxing’s recent history. While his earnings exceed far more than his counterparts, another exciting fight on the horizon can mean huge revenues. An exciting bout between extremely talented fighters can bring in a whopping $100 million for the event.

RIZIN has announced the news at its official YouTube channel. Both artists Tenshin Nasukawa and Floyd Mayweather were present at the conference.

The news of Mayweather fighting against Nasukawa comes as a surprise for both boxing and MMA fans, as the 41-year-old fighter was anticipated to face off current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Recently the Russian star successfully defended his lightweight accolade against two-category artist Conor McGregor. News of Mayweather taking on Manny Pacquiao at the end of the year were also rife. However, while talking to TMZ Sports a few days earlier, the renowned boxing star showed his interest in a fight in Tokyo. The American boxer added that he was considering taking up MMA and kickboxing stars as potential opponents. With his intentions totally clear now, combat sports fans are eagerly awaiting for New Year Eve’s sport candy.

Mayweather’s opponent, Tenshin Nasukawa is 20-year-old Kickboxing star and current RISE featherweight World champion. According to the ranking by Combat Sport, the archetype Kickboxing star is ranked as #8 bantamweight in the world. Nasukawa boasts an impressive record of 27-0 with 20 KO victories. The young sensation has dispatched defeats to notable names such as former IBF Boxing World Champion Amnat Ruenroeng, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Yamato Fujita with a recent win against Kyoji Horiguchi.

The Japanese star has also shown his adeptness on MMA’s octagon four times. The southpaw artist won two fights via KO, one by decision and one by submission. This is the first time Tenshin would be facing a professional boxer.

Floyd Mayweather’s caliber is unmatched when it comes to boxing’s realm. The 41-year-old star’s last ring appearance came in a tantalizing bout against MMA’s pro league fighter, Conor McGregor in August, 2017. After toying with the Notorious in the initial rounds, Mayweather submitted defeat to the Irishman via 10th round KO, improving his resume to a flawless 50-0.
