A promising young boxer Cesar Diaz died in a car crash last Friday in Palmdale, California.

Mexico’s Cesar Diaz was a bantamweight prospect who just signed with the Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions back in 2016.

He began boxing while he was a child at the age of 9. Diaz was strictly told by the parents that he must take a part in some kind of sports after school. Diaz loved two sports at the time: boxing and karate. However, Diaz chose the gym just near his house. Just after a week in the boxing gym, he was sold.

Unbeaten Diaz with the shinning record of 7-0 (6 KOs) just turned pro in July 2016.

As an amateur, Diaz won several tournaments including Silver Gloves National Championships’12, Adidas National PAL Title’13, and the Desert Showdown in 2009, 2013, and 2015. Moreover, he even defeated the US Olympic Silver Medalist Shakur Stevenson and Carlos Balderas from the 2016 Olympic Team. This decorated amateur had the bright record of 104-11

In 2013, Cesar Diaz won the championship of his weight class in Junior Olympic Regional Tournament. Moreover, he was ranked 3rd in the 123-pound weight class of USA Boxing.

How Diaz Died?

According to the reports of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Det. Eduardo Saucedo, the car crash of Diaz was reported at 8 pm. in the 50th Street East south of Avenue L.

Deterred Diaz couldn’t take the blow and hence, he died on the spot at around 8:17 pm. He was driving a Honda Accord and suddenly lost control of the car. The sheriff’s detective reported that Diaz drifted onto the traffic lane and then his car struck a large tree.

After the crash, Honda rolled onto the passenger side while ejecting the driver. However, there was a female passenger sitting on the left of Diaz who was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital.

The site was closed until 2:15 am. Saturday for investigation of the accident’s cause.

At the age of mere 20 years, this young and promising boxer lost his life at the home ground Palmdale, CA.

“Everyone at Golden Boy Promotions is heartbroken over the passing of Cesar Diaz over Thanksgiving weekend,” Golden Boy Promotions said in a statement.

This talented and aggressive boxer was very kind and nice. May his soul rest in peace!
