Heavyweight boxing champs, Anthony Joshu and Tyson Fury have been circling around each other for a while now but have never met in the ring. Well, things are about to change. Following months of intense negotiations, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have finally signed a two-fight deal, multiple media outlets reported.
“We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month,” Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed agreement on the much-anticipated fight. “The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper. But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters.”
Joshua holds three of four major world championships – WBO, IBF and WBA in the heavyweight divisions. Fury on the other hand holds the WBC heavyweight belt.
The clash between the two heavyweight titans will unify the four heavyweight world titles, in the biggest boxing contest of British history.
Details over date and location of the matches still needs to be hammered out. Joshua had previously expressed hopes of placing the fight in early June.
We’re working on a date for around June,” the former Olympic champion said. “I’m ready. I’m really looking forward to competition — all I want to do is fight, fight, fight.”
