Conor McGregor And Khabib Nurmagomedov Now Know Their Fates

The Nevada State Athletic Commission’s hearing with Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will have a good outcome. The NSAC has agreed on a settlement between each of the two fighters before their scheduled hearing.

Since the issue has been resolved, neither McGregor nor Nurmagomedov will be present at the hearing.

The two fighters had prepared to land a harsh punishment for their UFC 229 post-fight brawl. Many had expected that the two men would face a year-long ban from the NSAC. Fortunately, the punishment will not be as harsh as expected.

Instead, the NSAC settled terms with the two. A five-member panel from the NSAC will vote on the settlement terms of the two fighters.

McGregor and Khabib  Nurmagomedov’s settlement terms are still unknown. However, the NSAC probably settled for a hefty amount, given the amount of trouble the two fighters caused. As it is, the NSAC is still holding onto half of Nurmagomedov’s $1 million purse from the fight. There is no indication yet when the NSAC plans to release the funds, if ever.

The settlement comes as surprise to many. There had been some cause for concern that Nurmagomedov and McGregor might not return to the cage for a long time. This is because the NSAC has a history of giving out harsh punishments to fighters. Both the fighters are lucky to come out of the situation with just a fine and not a ban.

Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tukhugov, members of Nurmagomedov’s camp, also settled with the NSAC for their involvement in the post-match fight.

To combat the negative press from the NSAC hearing, the promotion published a press release on the same day news of the settlement broke.

The press release outlined a healthy economic assessment of UFC 229.
