Last year, on August 26, 2017, Conor “Notorious” McGregor gave his première performance against boxing’s undefeated Floyd Mayweather.

Despite his decision to fight against the living legend of the sport caused his doubters to raise their eyebrows, his cage performance dropped jaws of his harshest critics.

Though his destiny in the match was pre-determined, he managed to shake the audience by doing what most of pro boxers have failed to do so. Mystic Mac was actually able to hit the boxing’s best Floyd Mayweather before embracing 10th round KO stoppage like a long-lost lover.

The defeat in his debut bout brought more appreciation for the phenomenal Notorious rather than scrutiny. It was indeed an indicator of the colossal potential that the Irishman possesses.

Fast forward one year later, McGregor is preparing his grand re-entry into the octagon against UFC’s undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. As part of UFC 229 headliner event, the Irishman is prepping up his performance to face off the deadly Russian in October this year.

One year later his stalwart appearance against Money, Conor was hit by reminiscence. The Irishman took to Instagram and shared his views about his unique venture. This is what the Notorious had to say,

“1 year ago today I adhered to a load of rules, for a load of riches. Not today though. Today was no rules. Just a fight. A Proper one. For nothing more than peace, and peace of mind.” – Conor McGregor

Mystic Mac’s return to the cage would mark the end of his absence from the sport that spanned over about two years. However, despite he has been away for the cage, he hasn’t surely been out of limelight. With his constant off-cage appearances, the Notorious has been engulfed with controversies, causing him to relinquish his titles.

This year in April, MMA fans were struck with disbelief as news about the Irishman hitting a UFC bus with an appliance dolly made headlines. Some fighters on the bus were injured, while his arch rival remained unaffected by the incident. His friction against Khabib was self-evident, however, he missed his target. Though there have been many talks regarding the two powerhouses facing off each other, the event is now finalized for October 6 and is already being dubbed as the biggest UFC fight.
