Deontay Wilder welcomes an undisputed title fight with Anthony Joshua provided the terms are acceptable, says his co-manager Shelly Finkel.
The American heavyweight will confirm his next WBC title fight in next few weeks as Tyson Fury has decided not to take an immediate rematch.
Wilder possibly returns on May 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Soon after, Joshua squares off against Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden on June 1 for his US debut. However, Wilder anticipates a possible fight with Joshua for all four world titles if they both reach a favorable deal.
Finkel said,
“When the conditions are right, Deontay would love to fight Anthony Joshua,”
It’ll be interesting to see if Hearn dumps Miller from his promotional company if/when he loses the fight to Joshua on June 1.
He also said,
“If Joshua and Eddie really want to make a deal, they get off their high horse and they say ‘OK, we’re ready to make a deal, we’re not offering you things, what do you want?’ That’s not in their mindset and I have no interest in going any further with it.”
Dominic Breazeale’s name has also been thrown around as a potential contender against Wilder. He was originally named as WBC’s mandatory challenger after winning in November 2017.
The Californian was recently ordered to battle Dillian Whyte for the WBC interim belt, but hopes to receive a shot at Wilder instead.
Breazeale said,
“Of course I want to fight for the world title, but at the same time, I understand the fans want to see me and Dillian Whyte fight,” “I’m a fan pleaser and I’m ready to fight.
“My preference would be Wilder, of course, definitely. World title shot. It’s everything I’ve been waiting for, for the last 15 months.”
