In an exclusive interview on Monday night with UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones, he admitted to using cocaine in his college days. He is now classing it as one of his biggest mistakes and is claiming that he isn’t addicted to drugs, not even a regular user.

Earlier, it was reported that before his UFC 182 bout with Daniel Cormier, the UFC light-heavyweight champion had tested positive for drugs on December 23rd last year. He was then fined $25,000 by UFC for his rule violation and got a lot of criticism not only for positive testing but also for his one night stay in rehab.

The 27 year old UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones said:

“I don’t have an excuse. I did it, basically, at a party. A coward would come up with an elaborate reason or try to blame something, and I’m not gonna do that,” said Jones. “I’m not gonna blame my friends or pressure or stress. I messed up. It wasn’t a mistake. I can’t call it a mistake, necessarily, because I consciously did it.”

In his detailed interview he admitted:

He was afraid that he would fail the test and get suspended from UFC 182. But after being treated in rehab and getting positive test reports, he was happy that the fight would go on.

He added that he has no excuse for using drugs, it was his mistake and he is not justifying it. He now feels fit enough to take part in the upcoming fights organized by UFC 182.

Presently, Jon Jones is regarded as the best world’s pound-for-pound fighter. He has successfully maintained his unbeaten record throughout his entire career and been the youngest champion in UFC history at the age of just 23 in 2011. Since then, he has defeated every opponent that has come his way.
