Highly anticipated rematch between Conor McGregor-Nate Diaz is upon us. It wouldn’t be wrong to say ‘The Notorious’ is now obsessed with Diaz and the only thing he’s concerned with right now is to take back what was snatched from him, his ‘UNDENTED PRIDE’.

A lot has already been said about how McGregor lost the 1st fight, but it doesn’t matter anymore because he has the chance to rewrite the history books himself when the two rivals meet in the main event of UFC 202 at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20.

Unlike their previous fight when it was arranged on a short 10 days’ notice after Rafael Dos Anjos was removed from the card due to an injury, this time both fighters have had enough time for preparations and there will be no excuses afterwards.

Now all the pressure is on the Irishman to succeed otherwise his ambition of dominating the sport at welterweight and lightweight divisions will take a massive hit.

UFC is also backing ‘Mystic Mac’ for their own interest, as he is the biggest star right now and their No.1 pay-per-view fighter. His last fight generated 1.5M PPV buys, which was a record in the history of the sport. The rematch is widely expected to surpass those figures. If the fight turns out to be a big hit and McGregor wins the rematch, there is no doubt in my mind that the UFC will go ahead and turns it into a trilogy.

We all know that anything can happen in the fight business, one lucky punch can sometimes turn the tables. Diaz is considered favorite to for the rematch by most experts, but McGregor’s win will be much more profitable for the UFC as they need their prized fight to be on top again. So from some quarters it is speculated they might want to do something about it to turn McGregor into a winner again.

Let’s hope doesn’t come down to this and the spirit of the sport, which is already tarnished a bit after recent doping issues, remains intact.
