Jose Aldo became the center of attention once again with consecutive wins in over four years.

It all happened on Saturday when UFC’s top stars took to social media after Aldo bested the featherweight contender Renato Moicano in the co-main event of UFC Fortaleza.

In his UFC career Jose Aldo has only ever lost to former featherweight champion Conor McGregor and current featherweight champion Max Holloway. After his performance at UFC, Foraleza McGregor has showed interest in fighting him in Brazil.

During the post-fight press conference,  Jose Aldo answered different questions and the potential of welcoming McGregor to Brazil.

Jose Aldo said,

“To me it would be great. I don’t know if this fight he said [would be] in Rio, it didn’t get to me, but if I have that opportunity at the division above, that way I don’t have to suffer through the weight cut, I think it would be a great fight.”

“I think in the first fight we weren’t able to show my work. He connected with a great punch, but if you have another opportunity, I think the story’s going to be different.”

McGregor ended Aldo’s 18-fight win streak by knocking him out in 13 second, last time they faced each other. It was one of the most dramatic finishes in the history of MMA ending legendary featherweight’s title reign as well. Though both the men have showed indentations of a possible rematch at different times but that is yet to happen.

The other name brought forward was Brian Ortega for which Aldo replied,

“Of course. Anyone here who is well-ranked would be a great fight. I put about 15 names in front of Dana (White) and asked him what was the real situation, … so I gave him a list of names and all those in that list, I’d like to face them someday.”

Another fighter’s name came up – Alexander Volkanovski, who has an impressive 19-1 record, including wins in his first six UFC appearances. He is one of the hottest commodities to reach out to Aldo. He earned the top spot in the rankings by winning against three-time challenger Chad Mendes at UFC 232.

Unfortunately for Volkanovski, it wasn’t clear if Jose Aldo was familiar with him.

Lastly, Aldo responded to the congratulatory message from Holloway referring to him as the “King of defending champs”.

Told of Holloway’s message, Aldo was appreciative,

“I think he’s a true champion. I’m happy about it because he deserves to be there, he deserves to be the champion. He achieved it, he’s battled from the beginning. He came into the UFC very young and I think that he conquered that. I have a lot of respect for him.”

“He’s got a great story. He’s got a kid too, just like me, I have my family. So we defend that and I’m very happy and I wish him all the best at featherweight or at lightweight. I hope that he continues with his victorious path, always healthy.”
