The Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar featherweight title bout is set for UFC 240 PPV event on July 27 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Featherweight champion Max Holloway (20-4) and Edgar (23-6-1) have verbally agreed to face one another at UFC 240.

Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway were initially scheduled to fight at UFC 218 back in 2017 however the bout was called off after Frankie got hit with an injury. Consequently, Jose Aldo stepped in to replace him. ‘Blessed’ went on to win the fight via third round TKO.

They were also booked to fight at UFC 222, but things didn’t fall in place as Holloway pulled out due to a leg injury. Edgar then took on Brian Ortega and suffered a first career loss via first round TKO. Later that year, ‘T City’ eventually came up short against Holloway.

Edgar won over Cub Swanson back in April of 2018 through a unanimous decision, and since then he’s been campaigning for a title fight.

Holloway vs Edgar will mark Holloway’s return to 145 pounds after attempting to capture an interim lightweight title this past April at UFC 236. Holloway lost a five-round unanimous decision to Dustin Poirier, but prior to that he’d won 13 consecutive bouts including title fight victories over Brian Ortega, Jose Aldo (twice), and Anthony Pettis.

The 27-year-old Holloway is going to compete for the third time in Canada, where he is 3-0. He defeated Charles Oliveira by TKO back in August 2015 at a Fight Night in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, when Oliveira suffered a neck injury. Later, Holloway won PPV bouts against Ortega and Aldo in Toronto, a city that Holloway has made a second home.

‘The Answer’ finally gets his wish granted. Alexander Volkanovski, who’s riding a seven-fight win streak, just recently defeated Jose Aldo and would not like this decision of the UFC.

In two previous attempts to win the UFC featherweight title, Edgar lost a pair of unanimous decisions to Aldo.
