Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor are in the last days of their respective training camps preparing for the fight that is breaking records already, while the world watches. Floyd is busy with interviews while Conor is dealing with former sparring partner’s allegations.

Both fighters have been going back and forth about the weight of the boxing gloves that they will be wearing in the fight. Now they have made a formal request to make the change happen.

Giving Conor the advantage

Mayweather says that he wants to give McGregor ‘every advantage he wants’ in their bout, so he is willing to fight with 8-ounce gloves. That WILL give ‘Notorious’ the advantage because he is used to fighting in lighter gloves.

NSAC Requirements

The Nevada Sports Athletic Commission (NSAC) requires fighters, above the 147-pound weight limit, to wear 10-ounce gloves in boxing matches. This clause is mentioned in the contracts of Mayweather and McGregor.

But there is a way to change that if both fighters are on the same page and waive the 10-ounce boxing gloves requirement.

Mayweather and McGregor have submitted requests to change the glove size to NSAC for the rule change for their Aug 26 bout.

The fighters and their representatives will have to appear in front of the commission to give their reasoning for the use of 8-ounce gloves, on Aug 16; 10 days before the fight.

The NSAC will then deliberate on whether the reasoning justifies the rule change and will give their decision of whether it will be allowed or not.

We will be keeping a close eye on the matter and will update our readers on the outcome of the NSAC review.

This is a huge matter because it puts Floyd Mayweather Jr. at a disadvantage and it could have massive repercussions for him.

‘The Money Fight’ will take place at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Aug 26.
