Nate Diaz UFC 230’s Hopes Come Crashing Down As Poirier Is Forced Out Due To Injury

American artist Nate Diaz was quite eager for a showdown against contender Dustin Poirier in the lightweight division in the upcoming UFC 230 that will take place in Madison Square Garden on November 03.

However, owning to a hip injury, Dustin Poirier has been forced to leave the slot empty. Though there were a lot of speculations as to whom Diaz would be fighting next, the Stockton native has been rebuffed from fighting on UFC 230’s card.

To most MMA fans and pundits, McGregor seemed like a good replacement but their hopes soon came crushing down as Mystic Mac’s coach John Kavanagh tweeted about Conor’s medical suspension, suggesting that perhaps Tony Ferguson could step up to face the 33-year-old fighter.

But to the fans’ dismay, Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson won’t be materializing.

While talking to LA Times Lance Pugmire about the recent turn of events, UFC President Dana White cleared off all the dust regarding Poirier’s replacement. According to Dana White the California star is “definitely off UFC 230.”

This announcement marks the loss of second major fight from UFC 230’s card. Not only Nate Diaz vs. Dustin Poirier has been scrapped off the card, Valentina Shevchenko vs. Sijara Eubanks from women’s flyweight category has also been cancelled.  

Diaz had been vocal about his disapproval for UFC’s top league for not projecting his skills in the right manner. His coming fight was to dust off his cage rust from past two years putting an end to his absence from the octagon. Diaz last fought Conor McGregor in UFC 202 in August 2016 where he was oust by the former two-category champion.

Dana White didn’t disclose any information about Nate’s next appearance on the octagon nor there is any news as to whether a matchup between Nate Diaz vs. Dustin Poirier would materialize.
