Alex Pereira Talks About The Beef With Khamzat
Alex Pereira Poatan had this to say about the growing beef at the MMA Hour show with:
“Knowing that, [I] went to my manager and said, I had a hard weight cut. I can’t make the weight again right now. But I told the UFC to challenge him to fight me at UFC Rio. Chimaev didn’t want it. Let’s fight at light heavyweight…to avoid the weight cut. [But] he showed no interest.”

Khamzat Says He Wants To See Poatan In Brazil
Khamzat Chimaev specifically said that he had already signed to face Pereira at UFC 283 in Rio de Janeiro on January 21.
The Young Wolf had this to say afterward seeing Poatan speak on the subject:
“WTF…I asked them about this fight in Brazil, fake belt fake Coach fake fighter,” Chimaev said.
Despite this Khamzat has been calling out Pereira almost immediately after his title obligations were fulfilled against Israel Adesanya

“If Israel takes him down and takes wrist control and punches, this guy couldn’t get up from there? I don’t know how he would come up from me. Israel’s ground game is a white belt, the other guy gets his brown belt, and he was under Israel. I don’t understand. The guy has power, he’s one of the best guys in striking. But on the ground, he was s**t.”
Will UFC 283 Brazil see Poatan Vs Borz?
UFC 283 is set to be headlined by the flyweight tetralogy between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. Other Brazilian stars such as Johnny Walker and Jéssica Andrade will also feature on the card.
Pereira has fought his entire MMA career at middleweight, although he’s arguably huge for the weight class. He could eventually move to light heavyweight in the future.

Chimaev has fought at welterweight for the majority of his UFC run, with his one middleweight fight coming against Gerald Meerschaert in 2020. He earned a first-round knockout inside the first half-minute of the bout. Despite this Chimaev has aspirations for light-heavyweight, middleweight, and welterweight.
Khamzat has signed the contract according to his socials and Alex Pereira is still finalizing the details with his team. We expected Colby Covington to be Khamzats next opponent in March at UFC 284, but whether it be London or Rio, The Wolf will be ready.
