As the greatest crossover fight, UFC star Conor McGregor against the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. draws nearer, many current and former fighters are giving their opinion on how the fight will go down. While many of these opinions are likely unfounded, there are some fighting legends whose opinions have more weight, like the former MMA and UFC great, AND one of the first to capture belts in multi-divisions, Randy Couture.

RDX Ambassador, Randy Couture’s Opinion

“In my estimation, I think he has a 1:10 chance of beating Mayweather”

Randy Couture said that in a statement he made on the upcoming Mayweather vs. McGregor fight. According to Couture, McGregor doesn’t stand much of chance against ‘Money’, and he won’t even be able to touch him.

He continued by saying;

I think we’re dealing with arguably the best defensive boxer we’ve seen in 20 years. The top boxers on the planet haven’t been able to touch him, so what makes anybody think that Conor McGregor — who is 0-0 in professional boxing — is going to go out there and touch Mayweather? I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

The man knows a thing or two about fighting and he believes that the advantage lies with Mayweather because of his experience and defensive prowess. But he is not completely counting out McGregor.

He believes that ‘Notorious’ will hand on for the whole 12 rounds owing to the fighting style of Mayweather and Conor’s youth and aggression.

Knockdown vs. Push down

Randy also let us know what he thinks about the Malignaggi-McGregor sparring video release;

“It’s all manipulation on the part of Team McGregor and Dana White.”

He believes that to get a clearer picture of the sparring session, the whole video should be released not just an edited version.

Do you believe it was a clean knockdown or a push?

And what do you think Conor McGregor’s chances are against Floyd Mayweather on Aug 26? Do you agree with Randy Couture?
