Dubbed as the biggest fight in UFC’s history, Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor is turning more heads than any other fight did before. Though the fight is scheduled for October 6 as part of UFC 229, people have already started the countdown, eagerly awaiting the showdown.

The fight would put an end to McGregor’s absence from the cage after his last bout against Eddie Alvarez in November 2016. Though the Notorious made a ring appearance against boxing’s king Floyd Mayweather in August 2017, the encounter didn’t seal him a win.

Now, as McGregor has settled all his off-cage matters, he is willing to take care of his unfinished business inside the cage. Standing in front of him would be unbeaten and reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Following are the details about the celestial encounter that is being considered as larger-than-life event.

Fight Time

Though most fans would only attend UFC 229 to watch live the top catastrophic fighters engage in the carnival of rage, it comes as a bit of disappointment that the fight would be a middle-of-the-night event as the show would air at midnight UK time. The headliner event is scheduled to start at 3 a.m. BST; however, if the previous fights take longer to end, then the hair-raising brawl can be delayed by an hour or more.

Fight Venue

T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will open its doors to welcome the Notorious and Khabib Nurmagomedov in a testing battle that will decide whose name would be jotted down in gold. It is the same venue where McGregor gallantly embraced defeat at the hands of boxing’s king Floyd Mayweather.

UFC 229 Broadcast Details

BT Sports would be airing the UFC event in UK, as they have the rights to do so till the end of this year.  After that Eleven Sports will be the officially entitled to broadcast UFC events. However, BT Sports hasn’t shared details about the channel on which the show would be aired.

Previous Records Of Fighters

MMA’s best potentials would be entering the cage with impressive records and some phenomenal wins under their belts.

The Irishman would be re-entering the cage with a diverse experience gained from 24 fights, 21 victories out of which 18 are KOs and 3 defeats.

His arch rival, the bearded Eagle from Russia would be ready to engage in adrenaline booster maneuvers with a record of 26 fights that all ended in victories. 8 of these triumphs came from KOs while the remaining 8 from submission.

MMA Fighters’ Opinions

With a fight that has gotten hearts beating and anxiety building up, there is a lot of mayhem as to whom truly deserves to rule the lightweight throne. Is it the Notorious McGregor who has time and again stolen the limelight to prove his unparalleled caliber or the reigning champ Nurmagomedov who has trampled upon all his rivals he faced inside the ring?

Right now MMA artists are divided into two camps; one that truly believes in Conor’s caliber, the other that thinks Khabib has the poise and the potential to be crowned again as the lightweight king. Here are views from few of pro league MMA artists.

According to Urijah Faber,

“I think odds are in Conor’s favor, because it starts standing every round, and unless Khabib can take him down over and over again, right off the bat, the power’s a little much.”

On the other hand, Dustin Poirier favors the Russian Eagle. This is what he had to say about the upcoming fight,

“I’m kinda leaning toward Khabib. I just don’t know if he’s going to stop Conor or whatnot, but I’m thinking he’s going to get the victory.”

Right now, Anderson Silva also believes in Khabib’s ability to subdue McGregor. According to him,

“Khabib is a great fighter. I’m very impressed. Conor is a great fighter. Having a new generation of fighters, especially in the UFC… this is a huge company that’s worked for a long time to get the great fighters in the sport. I think Khabib is the best, here, in this moment.”
