UFC 277 is taking place this weekend and we at RDX Sports are really excited for the main card.
The UFC 277 pre-fight conference came to an end leaving the fans thrilled and super excited. The main event will take place in Dallas, Texas featuring 15 fights out of which are two title fights. The two fights that got cancelled were between Luke Rockhold vs Paulo Costa from the main card and Ignacio Bahamondes vs L’udovit Klein from the early prelims.
Julianna Pena Vs Amanda Nunes
The epic bout that will unfold this weekend will be between current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Julianna Pena and former titleholder Amanda Nunes. Nunes is confident to secure her title yet again after she lost it to Pena at UFC 269 through submission. Her first loss after maintaining a win streak since 2014.
In a recent podcast interview, while discussing her title rematch with Pena, Nunes told Laura Sanko that she considers herself “The Lioness” and the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.
On the other hand, Pena is assertive of the fact that this bout will end in her favour and that she will submit Nunes once again. In the conference, she mentioned how frustrating the chatter is for her about the previous fight with many claiming that Nunes made an avoidable mistake. In addition she mentioned how fans would take her potential for granted and doubted her win.
“It’s frustrating, you know. They said that she slipped on a banana peel and that’s why she lost that night. But that’s not the case, and that’s what we’re doing here. We’re going to run it back and do it again, and maybe you guys will finally put some respect on my name.”
#TeamRDX Fight To Watch
In the co-main event, top contender in the UFC flyweight ranking, ex-RDX ambassador Brandon Moreno will face Kai Kara-France for the UFC interim Flyweight Title. Not to forget that Moreno is the former flyweight champion and has been waiting for a comeback since his loss to Deiveson Figueiredo earlier this year at UFC 270. While attending the pre-event press conference, Moreno stated that he is hungry and eager to show the world why he deserves to be a champion again. He talked about his last fight with Kai at UFC 245:
“Last fight was very exciting. I’m not expecting some crazy change, talking about the excitement. He’s a guy who loves to go forward and loves to put pressure (on) and throw the right hand. I prepared myself for another war. I’m ready for whatever.”
Seems like Moreno knows is confident to counter whatever Kai throws at him and is determined to get the gold back. Conversely, Kai stated that he is now on another level with an improved purpose and better experience.
“The Kai that fought Brandon back in 2019 isn’t the same Kai that’s standing in front of you today. I’ve got so much more experience now. Being a father, being a husband, I’ve got more purpose and I’m just on another level. Congrats for Brandon for what he’s done since we fought, going on to win the title. But it’s my time. Dallas, Texas – I love being out here. I’m a long way from home, but I’ll show you why I’m the best in the world.”
Though Kai might have made some improvements, Moreno is someone who never fails to display his incredible skill and attitude in the octagon. RDXSports will have its eyes set on Moreno this weekend and wishes all fighters good luck for an event that will be a treat for all MMA fans.
