El Cucuy returns to the octagon just 4 months after being on the receiving end of a brutal knockout. Though fear not CSO fans, we’ve seen Tony face worse and come back from harsher circumstances. The Boogeyman is here for business and only a Leech stands in his way.

Li “the Leech” Jingliang

Li Jingliang “The  Leech” also returns to the ring 3 months after dealing out a nasty KO. His spirits are high and he’s been gauging his opponent and the overwhelming reputation behind him. There is a lot of respect from the side of Li towards Tony. And why shouldn’t there be? He’s the most notable veteran still in the lightweight division, with a wild fan following and an even wilder training regime.

Li Jingliang had this to say about the match up:

“For the people who say it like that — Tony Ferguson [has] four losses straight, never fought at welterweight — you forget who he is,” said Jingliang through an interpreter. “He is Tony Ferguson. You forgot all those people whose face got cut by Tony Ferguson. Amazing fighters were choked by him. You should give credit to him.

“I believe if you fight against him, you would know how hard [it is] to deal with a guy like ‘El Cucuy,’” continued Jingliang. “You shouldn’t forget those fighters like Tony, who is a pioneer in the sport. You should give him respect. We cannot see the very superficial things like the four losses straight, got knocked out. He had 12 wins straight before and fought a lot of hard opponents, so we cannot see things in that way.”

On the other hand Li Jingliang has Chinese wrestling skills but is primarily a power striker that looks for the knockout. His long standing experience of Chinese kickboxing has made him into one of the UFCs most proficient headhunters. We saw yet another example of that brilliant skill in his previous match against Muslim Salikhov. Salikhov, a tough enduring fighter, took a devastating left overhand that wobbled him to the cage floor from where it was an easy finish.

Its Tony Time

Tony Ferguson is one of the UFCs most dangerous submission artists. He has one of the best wrestling and jiu jitsu skill sets in the game with the capacity to choke out even the toughest of strikers. His close range combat and reach advantage may also play a part in letting him get more strikes onto Li. All before the knockout artist Li turns up the heat and turns off Tony’s lights. If the match goes to the ground however, Li will find himself losing breath in the stranglehold of the Boogeyman. After all he’s brought back his old coach Eddie Bravo and the Tony team together have submitted many opponents in the UFC.

Although Tony hasn’t had similar success recently his ability to bounce back and present a reformed, re-forged and reincarnated version of himself always has his fans coming back for more. Ferguson is known for slicing shots in the close range and a cumulative fighter of that style can ramp up damage like no one else.

We at RDX are of the same opinion, it’s finally Tony time again! As for the fans that are concerned about the match up, El Cucuy always brings Champ Shit Only. The Leech, Li Jingliang chose to fight against the realest fighter in the UFC and drew Ferguson in the raffle. One of the biggest stars the UFC has ever had. The Boogeyman has come up to welterweight and everyone should fear a bigger, badder and much more brutal Tony.
