“I just accepted a fight yesterday, I don’t know if that’s supposed to be put out yet,” claims Urijah Faber. There were rumors for the past couple of weeks that former WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber would make a return to the Octagon.

Faber announced his retirement back in year 2016 after picking up a unanimous win over Brad Pickett at the UFC on Fox 22, a card that also took place in Sacramento. He recently confirmed in an interview that he has accepted a fight against an undisclosed opponent and would return to the UFC soon.

The fan favorite announced his comeback in an interview with former UFC title challenger turned commentator and analyst Dan Hardy, joking that Conor McGregor had been egging him on for months.

Faber said:

“Looking at today’s landscape, I just know that I can compete easily, I’ve stayed in great shape. It sounds like fun and the reason I stopped is because I wanted to. The reason I’m coming back is I have decided I want to … I just accepted a fight yesterday, I don’t know if that’s supposed to be put out yet.”

Faber added that he had been encouraged to return to the sport by former two-division champion Conor McGregor in past conversations.

“Conor McGregor and I talk on occasion and he’s always, like, clawing at me, ‘Go get that snake! Go get that weasel!’ and you have other sentiment about that. ‘The story’s not over!’, you know? You know how Conor is. He’s hilarious. We have little private conversations on occasions like that.”

Urijah Faber “The California Kid” was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame’s “Modern Era” wing following his retirement year.

The sports professional turned 40 earlier this month and holds MMA record of 33-10. Expect the UFC to announce his return in the coming days.
