Brazilian Middleweight king Anderson Silva is all set to make his comeback with a fight against Israel Adesanya at UFC 234 in Melbourne, Australia on February 10.

A common reaction from MMA community is why The Spider is considering fighting Adesanya? UFC’s brass artist last cage appearance was in February 2017, as he prepares to take on a relatively younger opponent in the middleweight category. Considering the stark difference between the age and experience of the two fighters, the bout is certainly going to have a lot of surprises in store.

While many speculations are rife about the fight, Anderson Silva cleared off the dust stating that UFC President Dana White assured him a title contention bout with victory.  While talking to ESPN, the Spider said,

Dana came to Los Angeles to talk to me. I said to him, ‘Why am I going to take this fight?’ And Dana said, ‘You know, you win this fight, you go to the title belt,’ I said, ‘OK, now you are talking good business for me.’”

He further added,

“At first, I talked to Dana about a fight with [Conor] McGregor, because McGregor challenged me. Maybe that will be my second fight after this layoff. We’ll see.”

With his kickboxing background, Israel Adesanya boasts a record of 15 wins in all his MMA fights. With his unique striking skills, the fight would prove to be pure fireworks as Silva is renowned for the same skill.

Anderson Silva is looking forward to the showdown, and a possible victory can inch him closer to the belt.

“This is a great challenge for me. My entire life, since I started martial arts, I have taken the best challenge. Israel is a young guy and the future of the sport. Everybody is talking about Israel. I think this is the best fight in the sport. I knew when I saw Israel, wow, this boy is amazing and will have a good career in this sport. This is an amazing challenge.”
