Bellator has finally come forward with an official statement in regards to its much awaited welterweight tournament. According to the American MMA promotion company the tournament will be featuring many top-notch artists including a power-packed brawl between Michael Page and Paul Daley in the first round. The two Britons have an animosity that spans over a period of two years and their fight would surely put their differences aside by placing the winner in the spotlight. Though there has been no talk about the date and venue of the upcoming tournament, fans are hopeful they will see the Brits fight on their home turf.

Douglas Lima vs. Andrey Koreshkov is another highlighted, première fight of Bellator Grand Prix.

Lima and Koreshkov stand against each other at 1-1. With their opening fight, Koreshkov will get a chance to get even against his rival who dispatched him an agonizing KO in the previous episode of the tournament. After facing disgrace at the hand of his opponent, the Spartan notched up his performance by grabbing a two KOs, while Lima has failed to defend his title, handing it over to Rory MacDonald.

Other fights lined for first round bracket include Rory MacDonald vs. Jon Fitch and Neiman Gracie and undefeated welterweight fighter Ed Ruth.  Undefeated Yaroslav Amosov will be facing off Lorenz Larkin as part of the closing fight for first round.

Currently MacDonald is challenging fighter Gegard Mousasi in the upcoming Bellator 206 for the middleweight category. Next, he has former UFC champ Jon Fitch to face off in the same tournament.

Much needs to be decided about the heavyweight tournament. Chael Sonnen is scheduled to take on Fedor Emelianenko, while Ryan Bader will be locking horns with Matt Mitrione.

The date for the only fight that has been announced is Lima vs. Koreshkov. The two would be facing off each other on September 29. News has it that each brawl would include 5 rounds in the tournament.
