Controversial Decision for Ruqsana Begum’s World Title Fight

On Saturday 14th March RDX Sports ambassador, Ruqsana Begum faced Frenchwoman, Ludivine Lasnier for the ISKA Women’s Straw-weight world title fight.

Ruqsana is the current British & European Kick-Boxing & Muay Thai Champion, the World Championship double bronze medallist and faced Lasnier as the number one World Title Contender. Whilst her opponent, Lasnier on the other hand is the French Full Contact A Class Champion and European ISKA FC Champion.

The fight was held at the KTMMA event at the ILEC Conference Centre, Earls Court, London under ISKA K1 rules with 3 x 3 minute rounds.

The fight saw strong contention from both fighters with fierce right hooks and high kicks. Ruqsana landed a number of kicks, which knocked Lasnier to the floor. During the second round Lasnier lost her balance and took Ruqsana with her to the floor.

Throughout the three rounds, we anticipated that the results were going to be close. Ruqsana felt that she had done enough to be crowned the World Champion, only to discover that the title was given to Lasnier unanimously. Ruqsana commented, β€œI was shocked at the decision and really felt I had done enough to win.”

Ruqsana is now taking some time out following the defeat but will soon be back at the gym to improve and take her fighting career further.
