The History

Cormier and Jones first faced each other at UFC 182 in a fight that was explosive and filled with terrific action.

Both fighters gave it their all in the 5 round match but in the end it Jones was declared the winner by unanimous decision.

The bitter rivals were scheduled for a rematch at UFC 197.

There were verbal jibes thrown and the rivalry became heated.

The fight did not happen. Cormier had to pull out because of an injury.

It was then rescheduled for UFC 200. This time Jones was embroiled in a doping scandal and was suspended for 1 year; the action that he showed regret for.

Recent Action

Cormier has gone 4-0 since his loss to Jones. His most recent fight was against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210, which brought his career record to 19-1.

Jones, 22-1, hasn’t been inside an octagon since UFC 197, where he defeated Ovince Saint Preux. That was in April 2016.

He was never defeated as a light heavyweight champion and he must be waiting to prove why he should still have the title.
