In a week filled with wild combat sports action in the U.S., with UFC 217 and its scintillating action, it was difficult to top it. But Deontay Wilder did just that with his absolutely brutal knockout of Bermane Stiverne in the first round of their fight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Wilder knocked down Stiverne twice before absolutely destroying him and putting him to sleep.

Deontay Wilder Sending a Message

Deontay Wilder got back in the spotlight as one of the best heavyweight boxers in the world in a matter of minutes.

The aggressive knockout was just part of the message that he is sending across the pond.

After the fight, he called out the best fighter in the UK Anthony Joshua. In so many words, he said that he wants that fight to happen.

Wilder vs Joshua is the dream matchup that heavyweight boxing fans can’t wait to see.

The two fighters have been going at it on social media and statements. But there hasn’t been any negotiations for them to meet inside the ring, yet.

And the match can’t happen anytime soon. Wilder has to fight the WBC’s mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale next.

Anthony Joshua is still searching for his next match after knocking out Carlos Takam last month.

Any possible fight between Wilder and AJ could only happen late in 2018.

Another Contender for AJ

There also another possible contender for AJ in 2018, Tyson Fury.

According to sources, Fury could make his return to the ring as early as May 2018. He will be gunning for Joshua as well.

He has been out of the game for about 2 years. So a better fight would definitely be Wilder vs Joshua.

A lot has to be negotiated and worked before we can get to that fight.

In the meanwhile, you can enjoy the highlight of the month where Wilder knocks out Stiverne with an uppercut.
