After rumours of a potential re-match in September between World Champion Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana the date has been confirmed, and tickets are now on sale. The date for the match is the 13th of September and the location, the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas. This is set to be one of the greatest re-matches in history, where Mayweather is set to face his toughest challenge so far. Maidana is only the second man to ever receive a rematch against Mayweather.
In their first match on May 3rd 2013 Maidana gave the champion a tough fight in a long 12-round battle, although unfortunately losing the match on the judges’ scorecards. It however was an extremely close fight and is said to have been Mayweather’s toughest fight in recent years. Nobody expected the fight to be as competitive as it was, and for Maidana to land so many punches making it one of the most entertaining Mayweather fights in a long time.
With all the excitement centred on this re-match, Floyd Mayweather couldn’t help but bring us even more news, with the following statement in a recent interview:
“Sept. 1, back to business, Marcos Maidana- Floyd Mayweather, part 2. And then in May, I’m fighting in May and I’ll have a big surprise for ya’ll.”
This leaves us in great anticipation of who his potential opponent could be, with rumours flying around that it could be against our Boxing ambassador, Amir Khan.
