Now that Conor McGregor is done with the ‘Money Fight’, he eying his return to the UFC. He made the richest boxing debut of all time getting $100 million plus from the fight. But he does have a UFC championship that he has to defend and he wants Nate Diaz as his next opponent. So finally, McGregor vs Diaz 3 is looking like a possibility.

McGregor vs Diaz 3

He hasn’t seen the inside of an octagon since last year at UFC 205 where he defended his title successfully. There were many names being thrown around as possible future opponents for McGregor but the man himself seems interested in the trilogy fight against Nate Diaz.

McGregor and Diaz have had epic battles in the past. They met the first time at UFC 196 where Nate defeated Conor via submission.

The second fight was at UFC 202 which went all the way and both fighters battled relentlessly. McGregor won that one by decision.

So they are 1-1.

It is only fitting that a third fight takes place and the MMA fans, and the fighters themselves, can find out which fighter is the best.

The Weight Issue

According to sources, Conor McGregor wants the fight to happen but he doesn’t want to do it at 170 pounds. ‘Notorious’ thinks that it’s only fair that Diaz fights him at 155 pounds.

The request is not all that unfair. He is the champion in that weight class and Diaz has fought at that weight previously.

There is no word from Diaz yet but it is expected that he won’t have a problem with this demand from McGregor.

In the meanwhile, there will be an interim lightweight title fight between Ferguson and Lee in October. UFC has not yet commented on whether the winner of this fight will face Conor McGregor for the championship.

UFC may also be looking into Khabib Nurmagomedov as a possible opponent for Conor McGregor.

McGregor does have to serve a two-month ban before he can take part in any matchup at UFC so any possible fight will have to wait until October or November.
