After an absence of almost three years from the octagon, Nickolas Robert ‘Nick’ Diaz is headed back to the canvas to dust of his cage rust.

According to tweet shared by ESPN’s journalist Brett Okamoto, Nick Diaz would be featuring in UFC 235 on March 2, bidding farewell to his reclusion from the promotion.

“Breaking: The UFC is close to finalizing Nick Diaz’s return to the Octagon, per Dana White. The fight is Jorge Masvidal at UFC 235 on March 2 in Las Vegas. Diaz’s first appearance in more than four years. Story coming soon to @ESPN.” – Brett Okamoto

The Stockton native’s last appearance came against fellow fighter Anderson Silva in 2015 in UFC 183, which he lost via decision. The encounter was ruled as no-contest after both fighters failed their drug test.

35-year-old American fighter would be taking on former Strikeforce artist Jorge Masvidal who has scored 3 wins out of his 5 past cage appearances against fighters such as Donald Cerrone and Jake Ellenberger.

While Diaz may not be viewed as the most talent UFC artist, he certainly is a bright star in the promotion’s sky. His unique charisma make him a highly-sought after fighter in UFC. Therefore, when news of the Californian making his comeback hit the digital world, it shook the MMA community with pleasant surprise.
