American unbeaten boxer Floyd Mayweather is ready to rumble with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov but inside a boxing ring.

While discussing about the options of facing off the Russian Eagle with CNN’s Talk Asia’s Anna Coren, Mayweather refused to watch UFC President Dana White’s video where he suggests that the two powerhouses of combat sports should be colliding inside the octagon.

According to the 41-year-old boxer,

“I don’t have to see that. Last time Dana White spoke, he said me and Conor McGregor won’t be in a boxing match. I think Dana White is a great person, a great guy but we don’t know what the future holds. Sometimes I say I’m retired but guess what — I come right back.”

Russian UFC star Khabib recently re-asserted his status as undefeated lightweight champion by submitting a neck crank to his bitter rival Conor McGregor, who returned to the octagon after an absence of nearly two years. Right after his victory, Nurmagomedov challenged five-category boxing champion for a fight.

Both fighters boast astounding resumes. Money’s career spans around 50 fights, all of which are victories while Khabib has an impressive record of 27- 0.

Though Mayweather responded promptly to Khabib’s challenge and showed interest in meeting his management, the living boxing legend definitely wants the mega-fight to take place on boxing’s canvas.

“If Khabib wants to fight in a boxing match, we can. If he wants to go to UFC and make the money that he’s been making, he can. When Khabib fought McGregor, he made $3-4 million. When you fight me you’re going to make way more.”

The fighter went on to add,

“It’s about entertainment. Conor McGregor was never on a Forbes list. Once he competed against me, he was up high on the Forbes list.”

Dana White views the potential fight no less than pure fireworks. While talking to CNN, the promotion’s president said that if the fight materialized, Mayweather would “get smashed” by UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

When questioned about White’s views, Mayweather said,

“I don’t need to fight in the octagon. I’m the A-side. I still got nine figures easily. I’m happy and I feel good.”

Right now, news of American fighter taking on Kickboxing prodigy Tenshin Nasakuwa has taken over the combat sports world. The two would be engaging in a MMA bout on New Year’s Eve at Saitama Arena, Japan.

The fight would mark Mayweather’s debut appearance inside the cage. His opponent, however, has taken up 4 fights on MMA’s canvas, embracing victory in all encounters.
