With Weili Zhang’s perfect win, there’s nothing China has not perfected. The 115 pound powerhouse knocked out Jessica Andrade in 42 seconds. Weili smelled blood and came on to Andrade with a series of elbows in the clinch and knees to the body and to the head before dropping Andrade again.
The referee couldn’t let Zhang punish Andrade more and called off the round awarding Zhang the win. She put in a quick and perfect performance and became China’s first MMA champion.
“Last time when I was in Beijing, I made a commitment: I’m going to be the first-ever champion of the Chinese fighters. Now today I made it, Thank you, everyone. My name is Zhang Weili, I’m from China! Remember me! Said Zhang after her effortless win.
Andrade on the other hand said that it wasn’t her day today. The 27 year old said “I’m very happy to have fought here in China. “I know exactly what Weili Zhang is going through right now, it’s how happy I was when I fought Rose in Brazil. If she gives me the opportunity to train more and give me a rematch, it would be an honor. It could be here in China, in Brazil, in the United States. I don’t mind fighting here again.”
Well after such a statement we really do wish to see both champions in the ring once again.
