Golovkin vs Alvarez in another step closer now that the World Boxing Council (WBC) has stepped in and said that there should be an immediate rematch. This comes after the Sep 16 boxing fight between the middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez ended in a controversy.

Controversy that could lead to Golovkin vs Alvarez Rematch

According to sources, the WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said that the rematch is something that all fans want to see.

But WBC calling for a rematch in no way a guarantee that it will happen.

Golovkin and Alvarez will have the last say.

Gennady and his team have expressed their opinion that they do want the fight with Canelo.

They wanted it this year because Golovkin has other boxers in his sights.

But Alvarez is eyeing a rematch in the next year.

The fight was a very close one. Many believed that GGG did just enough to hand Canelo the second loss of his career.

Two judges called the fight very closely, while the third one in a very unbelievable way called it for Canelo by a wide margin.

The aftershocks of the draw were felt right away. The crowd in attendance let their feelings heard and the officials and promoters had their say in the post-fight press conference.

Another Boxing Super Fight

Golovkin vs Alvarez was one of the biggest gates in boxing history. The fight was sold out and the excitement for the match was felt all over the world.

A rematch will be even more anticipated than the original.

It will draw even more fans because they want to see one boxer come out on top.

Especially after Andre Ward retired, the pound for pound rankings are wide open and this fight will prove who is the pound for pound king of the boxing world.

We’ll just have to wait patiently to see what the end result of all these rematch demands is. We hope that it happens sooner rather than later.
