Boxing fans are set to be very exciting about the long anticipated match!
Shannon Briggs has allegedly agreed a date to fight the current world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko later this year.
Despite having a current fight lined up with Bryant Jennings this April, making his 18th title defense, Klitschko – the WBO, IBF, IBO and WBA champion, claims he will then take on Briggs in September, with Hamburg O2 Arena mooted as a potential venue.
Briggs has been quoted as saying “I have a date with Klitschko set for September, if not sooner,”
“His people have confirmed that – we’ve got a date. We’re looking at September. We’re looking at Hamburg, but hopefully we can change that venue to somewhere in America.
“That’s what we’re working on. Hopefully it can happen, if not in September then July or August. I feel great, I’m in phenomenal shape. I’m looking forward to fighting soon.”
in a bid to get the attention of the Ukranian, Briggs, pulled off several stunts last year, including gatecrashing Klitschko’s training session in November, ahead of his victory over Kubrat Pulev. As well as making a scene at a press conference in the run up to Klitschko’s fight against Alex Leapai last April.
Following an incident in Miami, a brawl broke out between the pair when Briggs approached Klitschko at a restaurant in Miami, and then went as far as taunting him from a speedboat in Florida while Klitschko was paddle-surfing.
With Klitschko’s last defeat over a decade ago and Shannon Briggs scoring a superb 80{317a7769e272dec17b69bda26c6a5a4c5e6799efcd8a85f72cb552b76862c2b9} knockout record, it’s hard to say who will come out on top.
