The eyes of the world will once again turn to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night as RDX Sports very own Amir Khan takes on Devon Alexander for the WBC Silver welterweight title. In the build up to the fight a lot of the talk has revolved around Amir Khan’s potential future opponents should he win i.e. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Khan himself however has been keen to play down any talk of future fights, instead wishing to concentrate on Saturday night and then just see what happens afterwards.

The fact is that Floyd Mayweather really has two options, one is a potential super fight with Manny Pacquiao, something boxing fans have been calling for for years and the other is Amir Khan. Khan would be a much riskier fight for Mayweather’s unbeaten record, he is considered by many to be one of the only boxers around with the speed and technique to really trouble him.

Back to Saturday night’s fight though and it looks like it will be a very interesting contest. Khan has the slight reach advantage and a few more fights experience. Alexander is a southpaw, this would normally be an advantage as a lot of fighters struggle and find it awkward to overcome but in this fight it could actually prove to be a negative. Khan has had a lot of success against southpaws in the past and in recent years has beaten Luis Collazo, Zab Judah and Paul McCloskey.

Prediction

Amir Khan will have too much speed for Alexander but will probably struggle to knock him out, we’d go for a Khan victory on points.
