Bellator MMA is coming to St. Louis this Friday and it is going to be aired on Spike TV. Bellator 138 is expected to enjoy an exorbitant amount of sales, thanks to the main card featuring the brightest of the featherweight, lightweight and heavyweight stars on the Bellator roster. And people are going to watch for sure, especially when there is such an intriguing match for the main event, involving the former street fighter Kimbo Slice and the old veteran Ken Shamrock.
Apart from that there is going to be a featherweight title fight between the reigning champion, Patricio Freire and the challenger Daniel Weichel. The ‘Dominator’ Bobby Lashley is also going to be in action against Dan Charles which could prove to be a slugfest more than anything. The former featherweight champion, Daniel Strauss will also face the young and impressive Henry Corrales. And who could forget the Michael Chandler bout vs. Dereck Campos.
Main card and fight Predictions
Kimbo Slice (4-2) vs. Ken Shamrock (28-15-2), Heavyweight
Both Slice and Shamrock are going to return to the cage after five year absence and many remember both as dangerous fighters. One was just an untrained puncher, Kimbo, and the other just got too old, 51 now.
Kimbo looks to be the one who has a shoe in for a victory as it is doubtful that Shamrock would have enough power left to knockout the otherwise glass-jaw Kimbo from a single punch.
Patricio Freire (13-2) vs. Daniel Weichel (35-8), Featherweight title bout
The champion, ‘Pitbull’ Freire is on a six fight win streak in which he won his rematch against Pat Curran to win the 145 lb title. His opponent, Weichel, is an experienced campaigner, who also comes in with an impressive win streak of his own. Weichel also won Bellator’s Season 10 featherweight tournament. So it is a case of unstoppable force vs. an immovable object and we may see the title changing hands.
Bobby Lashley (12-2) vs. Dan Charles (9-2), Heavyweight
On its face it is nothing more than a slugfest as both fighters prefer knocking their opponent out in the first round, both their dual losses came after they were pushed beyond the first round. We may just see Lashley come out of it as the victor because his strikes could prove to be more lethal than Charles’.
Michael Chandler (12-3) vs. Derek Campos (15-4), Lightweight
Although Chandler has lost three fights on the trot, they were all championship bouts and his opponents twice edged him by narrow split decision victory. Chandler is now going to have to build for another title run and Campos seems to be an opponent he can conquer.
Daniel Straus (23-6) vs. Henry Corrales (12-0), Featherweight
Former champion Strauss has lost two of his last three fights via rear-naked choke and he will be looking to turn things around against the upstart Corrales. Strauss has never lost two fights on the trot before and it looks as if he not going to lose two consecutive fights this time either.
