“I just took it all for granted”

Jon Jones made those remarks ahead of his fight against Daniel Cormier on Sat Jul 29. He was the reigning king of the octagon and at the top of his game before falling from grace.

Jones was suspended for a year for failing a drug test and then he had some trouble with the law. Once great champion was stripped of his championship and he left the sport he once loved in disgrace.

Jones is trying to make a successful comeback against his rival Daniel Cormier at UFC 214. The heated rivalry between the two has been well documented, who can forget the brawl at the press event.

He has looked in fine form, more shredded than ever.

But will he be able to make a successful return on Saturday?

More than a Fight for Jones

Jon Jones was once a role model for every up and coming MMA fighter. After his troubles, he was ridiculed, served a jail term and was banned from UFC.

He has to present his best self at UFC 214 to gain back the respect of the MMA fans.

The best way to do it is with a win against Daniel Cormier.

Daniel Cormier has been the UFC lightweight champion for about 2 years now. He has a 4-0 record since his first and only loss, which came against Jones.

He is the champion, but he never defeated Jones; who never lost the championship.

So this fight has more meaning to both fighters than average fans realize.

After a long absence, Jones wants to make everyone who he was;

“I think people have forgotten about the things that make me special”

so he will enter the octagon with all the pent up emotions – and Cormier will bring some of his own – so this may be the most exciting fight in UFC history.

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow and see who comes out on top, the champion or the king.
