After looking at the diet plan of the one half of the UFC 217 main event, Michael Bisping’s, we thought only fitting to look at the UFC diet plan of the other half this event. Today, we are going to take a peek at the returning UFC star Georges St. Pierre’s diet plan.
GSP, as he is popularly known as, is the former UFC welterweight champion. He was once considered to be one of the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC.
Some personal concerns regarding the UFC, and other reasons, made St. Pierre decide to leave UFC and the sport of MMA behind, in Dec of 2013.
He was still the champion at the time and the record for most wins in title fights. He voluntarily vacated the title of welterweight and took a hiatus from the sport.
He never said that he was retiring, so there was always the hope that he was going to make a comeback.
After getting an ACL surgery, there was no talk of his return as it’s seemed unlikely after the medical procedure.
At the start of 2017 the rumors of his return cropped up again and it was finally revealed that Dana White has successfully negotiated GSP’s return to the UFC.
GSP’s UFC Diet Plan
After announcing his return GSP was set to meet the current UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
GSP has to move up a weight class in order to fight Bisping.
So he has to go on a special diet plan to make sure that he makes weight for the Nov 4 fight.
To prepare, he goes on a diet that looks a lot like the one below;
Georges St. Pierre starts off his day with some protein and healthy vegetables;
- 3 scrambled eggs with chopped spinach
- Slices of lean turkey meat
After breakfast, GSP prepares for his morning exercise. When he is done with that it’s time for morning snacks;
- Glass of protein shake
- Some sunflower seeds
- Some almonds
There is a lot of strenuous activity during the day, so GSP fuels his body accordingly. He drinks protein shakes before and after every workout and his lunch looks like this;
- Turkey meatballs
- Some asparagus
- Half a sweet potato
Of course, that’s not his only afternoon meal. GSP also has a snack just before evening;
- Turkey jerky
- Peanut butter
- Handful of sunflower seeds
For his evening meal, GSP likes to keep it light and nutritious;
- A fish
- Side of salad or shredded cabbage
He likes his dessert and has a lot of healthy dessert recipes prepared for him after he has had his dinner. His favorite is a smoothie;
- Acai juice
- Carrot juice
- Whey protein
Since GSP is not on a strict weight cutting or weight loss diet, he has a cheat day once a week where he can eat whatever he likes. His favorite cheat foods include;
- French fries
The diet remains the same whenever St. Pierre is training for an MMA fight. He is able to keep a hearty diet because of the fact that he will be fighting in the middleweight division.
For this fight, his goal must be to gain muscle mass so he can compete with Michael Bisping on all levels.
The diet above is suitable for people who are training for an upcoming fight where they have to gain weight.
