On November 15, history was made at UFC 193 by Holly Holm who defeated the previously unbeaten MMA bantamweight Ronda Rousey. Holm knocked Rousey out in the second round by kicking her head forcefully and then giving her a shot of punches. Rousey’s fans got shocked after the unexpected loss of their ideal fighter and started talking about a rematch instead of appreciating Holm for her brilliant performance in the ring.
Both the mixed martial artists gave their best but unfortunately (for Rousey), Holm turned out to be the better one. It’s not because Rousey doesn’t fight well; she does! And she has shown it to the world in her previous 12 fights. But this time her opponent was smart enough to do her homework, analyse Rousey’s previous fights and use her weaknesses to take her down.
Due to Rousey’s ignorant behaviour, she didn’t realize that her loss was obvious as she stepped into the ring because neither did she take Holm seriously nor she trained hard for the fight. On the other hand, Holm knew what she was getting into and trained as hard as she could for one of her career’s toughest fights.
Rousey already knew that Holm would try to kick her on the head. She acted as if she knew all what was going to come from Holm but still couldn’t do anything to stop her. Before the fight, Rousey said, “I feel like she’s going to try to keep distance and keep far away from me and get me frustrated until I make a mistake and she can try and kick me in the head, but it’s not going to go like that.” Rousey thought that Holm would be trying to get her frustrated and that’s exactly what happened in the fight, Holm acted intelligent while Rousey got frustrated and angry which ended up with Holm kicking Rousey and winning the UFC women’s bantamweight championship.
