UFC lightweight artist Tony Ferguson isn’t amused by the idea of Khabib Nurmagomedov fighting undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather. 34-year-old American artist was quick to ridicule Khabib’s claim that a match against Mayweather would bring him more cash and fame. Instead, according to the American fighter, the reigning 155lb. category artist should be ready to rumble for his undefeated status inside the cage.

The tweet by El Cucuy is the latest episode in the Khabib Ferguson series that is ongoing since December 2015.
The two artists were scheduled to face off each other in The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale in December 2015. However, before the encounter Khabib’s broken rib forced him to leave the spot vacant. A rematch was organized under UFC’s banner on FOX 19. But the bout did not come to fruition on April 19, as Ferguson was forced to leave owing to his lung injury.
The pugilists were yet again booked for a fight in UFC 209 in March 2017 but the interim championship fight again wasn’t materialized. Khabib faced some complications on the day of official weigh ins and was taken to the hospital, leaving El Cucuy to face disappointment again.
The following year a fight between the best 155lb. artists was booked again. Did the fans finally get to feast on MMA’s eye candy?
Sadly, no.
A few days before UFC titans were set to clash, Ferguson ended up wounding his knee. A quick replacement was made and Khabib got his belt by defeating Al Iaquinta.
After a period of six months Ferguson and Khabib both were booked to fight again – this time against different opponents in UFC 229. Khabib took over bitter rival Conor McGregor by submitting a brutal neck-crank via fourth round submission while Ferguson embraced victory by putting a full stop to former champion Anthony Pettis’ reign in the co-event.
