The undefeated Floyd Mayweather proved himself again on 2nd May evening by taking down the Filipino eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao in a 12-round fight victory coming by unanimous decision. After the bout was over, Mayweather briefly talked to the media and said that he would go for the another fight in the month of September as he is under contract with CBS for yet another fight, but he didn’t mention the name of the possible opponent.
While the discussion of the rematch or a new opponent is underway, another interesting update poured in. Mayweather has said that he will relinquish all his titles in some days and would let the junior boxers feed on it. Mayweather currently holds five titles and they will soon be available for young players to fight for. The news looks very “Anti-Mayweatherish” as he does not give away much. What is even more surprising is that he is yet to fight once more in September and this time without any titles involved just for the sake of Boxing.
Talking to the media after the fight, Mayweather said that there was a time when he loved boxing and was willing to go for every fight but now he is fed up and has lost the interest in the sport. He further added that his interest and passion for the sport isn’t the way it once was. And he is in to fight just because it’s his job to go into the ring and perform well. He was asked whether he is interested in breaking the undefeated record of Rocky Mariciano, he said that he has no personal interest in breaking the record.
