There has been a discussion between Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone recently for a potential rematch. According to reports, Cerrone asked for a rematch to which Nate Diaz responded ‘It’s not me. UFC doing it’, suggesting that the promotion is responsible for his inactivity.
Cowboy had a word with Diaz about a rematch at UFC 235 to which he suggested that he was up for it. The catch in the fight was not to involve any weight cut suggesting that it would occur in the 185-pound middleweight division. Both have never competed for this weight class before.

Cowboy: Nate, when you fighting again?
Diaz: It’s not me. UFC doing it.
Cowboy: Well, just so you know, I’ll fight you.
Diaz: S—. We’ll do it at 185. I’m done cutting weight.
Cowboy: Okay.
Both Nate Diaz and Cowboy had their first encounter back in 2011 at UFC 141. After an impressive show Diaz was able to capture an impressive unanimous decision win. Following this victory, Diaz defeated Jim Miller via submission that earned him a title shot for UFC lightweight opposite Benson Henderson. He lost that fight by decision.
Nate Diaz (19-11-0) had his last fought back in August 2016 when he gave up a decision to Conor McGregor.
On the other hand Cowboy last fought with the surging contender Alexander Hernandez in January where he delivered an epic stoppage defeat. Most recently he won in the welterweight division defeating the knockout artist Mike Perry.
A rematch is definitely going to find both men at very different stages of their career. It could be the highest profile matchup that doesn’t involve a UFC belt.
