If you are a fan of boxing and want to see something exciting other than the Mayweather v Pacquiao fight, then we have good news for you. Former two-time world champion Hozumi Hasegawa is now returning to the ring after many years away to fight for a belt in the featherweight category.

According to sources, it has been announced on Wednesday that Japanese southpaw veteran Hozumi Hasegawa is preparing himself back for fight for another award. 34 years old Hasegawa was completely out of practice after he lost his world shot title at WBA 122-pound champ Kiko Martinez, defeating him by seventh round TKO in April last year.

Hozumi Hasegawa, who was born in December 16, 1980, has made his professional debut in 1999.Former WBC World Bantamweight Champion, WBC World Featherweight Champion, and 4-time Japan Boxing Commission MVP, Hozumi Hasegawa was the first Japanese boxer achieved a world bantamweight title more than 4 times.

On April 16, 2005, Hozumi Hasegawa’s bout against long-time champion Veeraphol Sahaprom who was a fifteen times WBC bantamweight champion and had maintained this position for almost a decade. Hasegawa showed his boxing skills very well ending the fight with the victory of 3-0.

Then on September 25, 2005, Hasegawa fought against Geraldo Martinez, in the 7th round he knocked Martinez down two more times and gained a great victory against him.

On March 25, 2006, Hasegawa fought his previous competitor for a second time, Veeraphol Sahaprom in his own hometown. In this fight, Hasegawa again knocked out Sahaprom with a dominating left uppercut in the 6th round and secured a massive victory against Sahaprom.

After enjoying many wins, Hasegawa fought underrated WBO fighter Francisco Montiel and suffered an unexpected fourth-round TKO defeat in April 2010. His other mistake was deciding to go for a fight in the featherweight division and attempted to achieve the WBC featherweight belt by fighting against Juan Burgos in November 2011. It was April 2011 when Hasegawa had not taken even a single defense and lost the WBC 126-pound belt to Jhonny Gonzalez’s only hook in just 4 rounds.

But now, after a long break from boxing, Hozumi Hasegawa wants to come back in the ring to fight for the featherweight category.

In this regard, he stated:

“I wish to fight on with all my heart and spirit. I will devote all myself to boxing. Whenever there may be a chance for my third coronation, I will do my very best to try to win it.”
