In rebellion with contemporary beliefs, Tyson Fury believes the grass is greener on the boxing side of the fighting world. Fury believes MMA is child’s play because of fighters such as Brock Lesnar. Lesnar, former UFC heavyweight champion, has had an on-and-off relationship with UFC and WWE.

The MMA icon often steals the spotlight because of his bold comments and his huge fan base; a fact that was proven once again through the pay-per-view sales he made at the WrestleMania. Lesnar, who was recently linked with a return to the UFC, has inked a new two-year contract with WWE last week.

Fury says that if “pretend fighters” like Lesnar can go on to win the biggest prize in the UFC, the heavyweight title, then it doesn’t say much about MMA fighting itself. Fury also made jabs at the current heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez by saying that he is a “small, stiff idiot”. The UFC heavyweight champion, however, responded in control and said that trash talk would get Fury nowhere near the title shot.

Fury is of the impression that there isn’t a single fighter in MMA that can hold a candle to his abilities. Fury told WHOATV, “We all know WWE is pretend. And if a pretend fighter can come in and win the heavyweight championship of the world in what is supposed to be the ultimate fighting competition, it doesn’t say a lot, does it? I haven’t changed my mind, anytime, anyplace, anywhere, tell Dana White to bring Velasquez to me and I’ll knock him into next week. As I said before, they are not on my level, they are bums compared to me.”

A bold claim, but Fury is undefeated in his 24-match professional boxing career and such facts do warrant the ability to have such confidence. Fury has been approached by UFC president Dana White before, but he didn’t find the UFC coffers to be big enough for him. He has urged UFC to come with a good offer and only then will he think about schooling UFC’s heavyweight division.

Fury said, “Dana White knows where to find me. He’s already offered me a fight before. But I told him, and I’ll tell you again, when he can afford it come and see me. Until then, forget about it.”
